The use of denatured alcohol in internal combustion motors
An engineering thesis by Perry John Freeman and Joseph Milton Harnit, submitted at the University of Illinois in 1907, testing denatured alcohol against gasoline in internal combustion motors. Pasted sepia photographs show laboratory test rigs, flywheels and tanks in a brick-walled room, alongside hand-inked line diagrams of fuel carburettors and plotted performance curves on graph paper with handwritten labels.
