Vantine's, the oriental store.
A 1919 mail-order trade catalogue from A.A. Vantine and Company, the New York importer of Asian goods, aimed at American retail shoppers buying baskets, silks, perfumes, robes, toys and household wares. Halftone product photographs isolate single objects on plain grounds, with heavy woven textures, cord ties and tassels, checkerboard basket bands and printed silk patterns that can be lifted as texture swatches or silhouetted object spots.
