Varia commensuracion para la escultura y arquitectura
Juan de Arfe y Villafañe's treatise on proportion for sculptors, silversmiths and architects, first issued in 1585 and reprinted in Madrid by Plácido Barco López in 1795. The woodcuts are working diagrams: lettered circles and arcs, squared grids used to lay out vaults and mouldings, half-plans of processional crosses and monstrances, and figures measured off in head-lengths — usable as line stock for grid systems, construction-line motifs and geometric ornament.
