Vellosia
Vellosia is the 1885 bulletin of the Museu Botanico do Amazonas at Manaus, written by its director João Barbosa Rodrigues for naturalists reporting on Amazonian plants, archaeology and fossils. The plates here are small wood-engraved geological sections: banked strata rendered in ruled hatching, dotted and cross-hatched bands, with palms, shrubs and tiny smoking steamers perched on the cut edges, plus lettered depth keys.
