The velvet and corduroy industry; a brief account of the various processes connected with the manufacture of cotton pile goods
A 1922 technical manual by J. Herbert Cooke, published in London and New York by Pitman for textile manufacturers and trade students, covering the making of velvet, velveteen and corduroy from cotton pile. Halftone photographs show mill interiors with rows of looms, belt-driven shafting, warp beams and single machines posed against blank grounds, giving designers industrial machine silhouettes and deep receding factory perspectives.
