Venice
A volume in Grant Allen's Historical Guides series, reissued by Henry Holt in 1912 for English-speaking travellers studying Venetian art and architecture on the ground. The 36 plates are coarse-screen halftones of paintings, carved stone figures, and doorway reliefs, most cropped tight to a single head, useful for weathered-photograph texture, profile portraits, and crowned or haloed figures in Gothic niches.
