Coates & Co. in 1896 for American general readers and students of Italian art. The plates are sepia photogravures of Gothic and Renaissance church fronts, campanili, and vaulted interiors with altars and choir screens, useful for architectural silhouettes, rose-window and tracery detail, and deep brown tonal backgrounds.
