DE LA TERRE À LA LUNE — JULIO VERNE
Jules Verne's 1865 scientific-adventure novel of the Baltimore Gun-Club and its moon cannon, issued in a Spanish-titled illustrated edition with a color plate signed Roux. The plate is a tinted lithograph of a crowded public meeting: frock coats and top hats, a speaker at a draped podium, brass chandeliers and a rope barrier, useful for nineteenth-century assembly scenes and period crowd silhouettes.
