Iani Iacobi Boissardi Vesuntini Emblematum liber = Emblemes latins de I.I. Boissard
Jean Jacques Boissard's Latin and French emblem book, printed by Abraham Faber at Metz in 1588, with engravings by Alexandre Vallée and others for learned readers of moral allegory. The 53 plates set nude and costumed figures, winged cupids, and classical architecture in wide horizontal frames, each carrying a tablet of engraved verse that designers can reuse as a caption panel or empty cartouche.
