Veterum illustrium philosophorum, poetarum, rhetorum, et oratorum imagines : ex vetustis nummis, gemmis, hermis, marmoribus, alijsque antiquis monumentis desumptae
An antiquarian portrait atlas compiled by Giovanni Pietro Bellori and engraved by Jacques Blondeau and others, published in Rome by Giovanni Giacomo de Rossi in 1685 for collectors and scholars of ancient coins, gems, and marbles. Full-page engravings show bearded Greek and Roman philosophers, poets, and orators in profile inside plain roundels or as frontal busts, modelled in fine parallel hatching against ruled backgrounds, with Greek and Latin lettering curved along the rim; useful for medallion frames, profile heads, and engraved shading textures.
