The Visitacion of Staffordschire
A printed transcript of Robert Glover's 1583 heraldic visitation of Staffordshire, edited by H. Sydney Grazebrook and issued in London by Mitchell and Hughes in 1883 for genealogists, antiquaries and county historians. The plates are rows of small outline shields drawn in plain black line on cream paper, each filled with charges — lions, birds, owls, crescents, escallops, hunting horns, bends and chevrons — giving designers a stock of clean, scalable blazon motifs and simple shield silhouettes.
