A visitation of the county of Essex
A heraldic visitation of Essex, recorded by Sir Edward Bysshe of the College of Arms in the seventeenth century and edited by Joseph Jackson Howard for antiquaries and genealogists, printed in London by Mitchell and Hughes in 1888. Line engravings show borough seals and shields: Maldon's three lions and masted ship, Walden's walled town, crowns and a ragged cross, all in crisp black hatching.
