Giorgio Vasari's life of Michelangelo, printed in Florence by the Giunti press in 1568 as part of the second edition of his Lives of the artists, for readers in the orbit of the Accademia del Disegno. The woodcuts include a portrait framed in an architectural aedicula with seated figures, a Florentine lily in a grotesque cartouche, and initials built from figures and horses.
