A biography of the Florentine painter Anton Domenico Gabbiani, written by Ignazio Enrico Hugford and printed in Florence by Francesco Moücke in 1762 for artists, collectors and connoisseurs. The plates here are typographic ornament: woodcut headpieces of scrolling acanthus, urns and fruit baskets, inhabited initials in square floral blocks, and a winged putto among wheat sheaves and ribbons.
