Benvenuto Cellini's autobiography, written in the sixteenth century and first printed in 1728 by Pietro Martello in Naples under a false Cologne imprint, for readers of artists' lives and Florentine history. The decoration is woodcut: historiated and foliate initials with putti, nude figures in landscapes with hill towns, and a bearded mask headpiece flanked by acanthus and tulips.
