Giorgio Vasari's biographies of Italian painters, sculptors and architects, reissued in Siena in 1791 by the Pazzini Carli press with notes by Guglielmo Della Valle, for collectors and students of Italian art. The plates are copperplate engravings: oval artist portraits in cartouches framed by putti, palettes, brushes and swags; architectural tomb and monument elevations with busts, urns and inscription tablets; plus hatched figure vignettes and blue marbled endpapers.
