Vite de' pittore, scultori, ed architetti perugini : scritte, e dedicate alla maestà di Carlo Emanuel, re di Sardegna
Lione Pascoli's collected lives of the painters, sculptors, and architects of Perugia, printed in Rome by Antonio de' Rossi in 1732 and dedicated to Charles Emmanuel, king of Sardinia, for readers of artists' biographies and local antiquarian history. The pictures are letterpress ornament: square woodcut initials in which a putto climbs through the letterform among acanthus scrolls and berried sprigs, printed in coarse black line on toned paper, useful as drop caps, borders, and repeatable decorative blocks.
