Vite de' pittori e scultori ferraresi
Girolamo Baruffaldi's biographies of the painters and sculptors of Ferrara, written in the eighteenth century and printed at Ferrara by Domenico Taddei in 1844 for local antiquarians and art historians. The plates are small head-and-shoulders portraits of the artists in outline engraving, faces modelled with fine parallel hatching against blank grounds, useful for period collars, caps and long hair, and as models for economical linear face shading.
