Lione Pascoli's collected lives of the painters, sculptors, and architects of Perugia, printed in Rome by Antonio de' Rossi in 1732 and dedicated to Charles Emmanuel, King of Sardinia, for court patrons and connoisseurs of Italian art. The pictures are relief-cut decorated initials in which naked putti clamber among acanthus scrolls, lilies, and berried sprigs, printed with heavy black borders and coarse hatching useful as drop caps, spot ornaments, or scanned texture.
