Lione Pascoli's biographical dictionary of modern painters, sculptors and architects, printed in Rome by Antonio de' Rossi in 1730 for collectors, connoisseurs and artists. The plates here are woodcut initial letters: capitals framed in acanthus, berried branches and flowers, with a plump putto climbing or seated on the letterform, cut in coarse black line for typographic display.
