Vite de' pittori, scultori, ed architetti moderni
Lione Pascoli's collected biographies of modern painters, sculptors and architects, printed in Rome by Antonio de' Rossi in 1730 for readers and collectors following contemporary Italian art. The plates here are woodcut initial letters set in square frames, each holding a putto among acanthus scrolls, foliage and vines, usable as drop caps, monogram frames or small ornament tiles.
