A posthumous collection of essays and unpublished writings by the German architect and preservationist Carl Schaefer, issued in Berlin by Wilhelm Ernst in 1910 for architects, restorers and students of medieval building. The plates are measured line elevations, sections and details of Gothic and Romanesque churches, drawn with ruled masonry coursing, tracery windows, rose windows and carved arcades, offering clean linework, repeating ornament panels and scale-marked architectural diagrams.
