Von Eyck bis Bruegel, studien zur geschichte der niederländischen malerei
A German art-historical study of Netherlandish painting from Jan van Eyck to Bruegel, written by Max J. Friedländer and published in Berlin by J. Bard in 1916 for scholars, curators and collectors. The plates are halftone photographic reproductions of fifteenth- and sixteenth-century panel paintings—Madonnas at windows, Nativities, mourning figures—rendered in soft grey tonal gradients, useful for period portrait heads, drapery folds, headdresses and glimpses of town and landscape backgrounds.
