An antiquarian travel account of Italy, Dalmatia, Greece and the Levant in 1675-76 by the Lyon physician Jacob Spon and the English traveller George Wheler, printed in Amsterdam by Henry and Theodore Boom in 1679 for scholars of classical inscriptions and coins. The engravings are line-cut plates of coins arranged in numbered rows, each a circle holding a diademed profile head, standing deity, temple front or animal ringed by Greek letters, alongside measured drawings of fluted colonnades and carved cornices.
