Voyage pittoresque de la Flandre et du Brabant : avec des réflexions relativement aux arts & quelques gravures
A 1769 Paris account by the painter Jean-Baptiste Descamps of a tour through Flanders and Brabant, describing churches and collections with notes on art for French connoisseurs, collectors and travelling artists. The plates are line engravings of Baroque church furnishings — tiered funerary monuments, altar canopies, allegorical figures on clouds with angels and putti — alongside woodcut headpieces of acanthus scrollwork, useful for cut-out architectural silhouettes, drapery figures and strip ornament.
