A folio collection of Greek astronomical and chronological texts edited by the Jesuit scholar Denis Petau and printed in Paris by Sébastien Cramoisy in 1630 for learned readers of classical science. The plates are typographic ornament: horizontal woodcut headbands of dense acanthus scrollwork inhabited by small nude figures, grotesque masks and birds, cut in fine black line on white, usable as rules, borders and repeating strip patterns.
