A wanderer in London
E. V. Lucas's 1906 guide to London, published by Methuen in London and Macmillan in New York for travellers and gallery-goers, walks through the city's streets, churches and collections. The plates are coarse-screen halftones after paintings held in London galleries — grouped figures, nudes in woodland, tavern and domestic interiors — printed dark and grainy, useful for muddy monochrome textures, silhouetted figure clusters and heavy tonal backgrounds.
