A short American biography of Florence Nightingale issued by the Methodist house Poe & Hitchcock in Cincinnati in 1863, part of a "Celebrated Women" series aimed at young readers. The two plates are a chromolithographed illuminated title in gold, red and blue with foliate initials, and a steel-engraved portrait of a seated woman reading, framed in an oval with corner flower sprays.
