A surgical monograph by Emil G. Beck on packing chronic abscesses and fistulae with bismuth paste, published by C. V. Mosby in St. Louis in 1914 for physicians and radiologists. Most plates are early halftone radiographs in which the injected paste reads as dense black branching tracts against soft grey bone and tissue, useful for grainy tonal texture, ink-blot silhouettes, and branching line forms.
