Beeton's every-day cookery and housekeeping book : comprising instructions for mistress and servants, and a collection of over sixteen hundred and fifty practical receipts. With numerous wood engravings and one hundred and forty-two coloured figures, showing the proper mode of sending dishes to table.
A Victorian household cookery and domestic management manual by Isabella Beeton, issued by Ward, Lock and Co. in London around 1888 for middle-class mistresses and their servants, with over 1,650 recipes. Small wood engravings show finished dishes on serving platters — moulded jellies and creams, ribbed and arcaded shapes, garnished loaves, ring moulds — drawn in close hatching against blank ground, useful as isolated silhouettes, decorative food spots, or menu and label ornament.
