Cassell's dictionary of cookery, with numerous engravings and full-page coloured plates : containing about nine thousand recipes.
A household cookery encyclopedia of some nine thousand recipes, issued by Cassell, Petter, Galpin & Co. in London around 1880 for British middle-class kitchens and their cooks. Small wood engravings, densely hatched on ruled or vignetted grounds, show whole fish, moulded jellies and shaped puddings on dishes, cut nuts and fruit, and kitchen equipment — usable as compact food and larder spot art.
