Genera filicum, or, Illustrations of the ferns, and other allied genera / from the original coloured drawings of Francis Bauer ; with additions and descriptive letterpress, by Sir William Jackson Hooker.
A botanical monograph on fern genera published in London in 1842 by H.G. Bohn, with hand-coloured plates after Francis Bauer's drawings and text by William Jackson Hooker, made for botanists and collectors of scientific illustration. The plates isolate fern parts on white grounds: frond segments in flat bright green, rows of brown or yellow spore clusters, coiled crosiers, and magnified sporangia drawn as small stalked capsules, giving repeating dot-and-stripe patterns and detachable specimen shapes.
