Obstetric tables: comprising graphic illustrations, with descriptions and practical remarks; exhibiting on dissected plates many important subjects in midwifery. / By G. Spratt, surgeon-accoucheur.
George Spratt's obstetric atlas, issued for the author in London in 1843 for surgeon-accoucheurs and midwifery students, presents "dissected" plates whose hinged paper flaps lift to reveal successive layers of the pregnant pelvis. The hand-coloured lithographs combine sharp sagittal cross-sections of spine, pelvic bone and uterus with stippled grey forceps, binder cloths and a practitioner's hand, printed on foxed cream paper with visible flap edges and shadows; useful for anatomical line-and-wash figures, muted flesh and rose palettes, and layered cut-paper devices.
