Inside Out Library

The universal herbal; or, botanical, medical, and agricultural dictionary / [Thomas Green].

Thomas Green · 1828 · London : H. Fisher, [1828?] · 123 pictures

A two-volume alphabetical dictionary of plants compiled by Thomas Green and issued by H. Fisher in London around 1828, addressed to physicians, farmers and gardeners wanting medical and agricultural uses alongside identification. The engraved plates group three or four species per sheet as line drawings of flowering stems, seed pods and detached floral parts, each captioned with Latin and English names in engraved script, giving designers isolated botanical silhouettes and ready-made caption lettering.
