The natural history of pigeons / Illustrated by thirty-two plates, coloured, and numerous woodcuts. With memoir of Pliny by Andrew Crichton.
Volume of Jardine's Naturalist's Library on pigeons, written by Prideaux John Selby with a memoir of Pliny by Andrew Crichton, issued in Edinburgh in 1835 by the engraver W.H. Lizars for subscribing amateur naturalists. Thirty-two hand-coloured plates show single doves perched on lightly penciled branches, the bird fully painted against bare paper: usable as cut-out bird figures, iridescent green-and-orange plumage swatches, and sparse botanical line work.
