Familiar trees / With coloured plates by W.H.J. Boot.
A popular British natural-history handbook on native trees, written by botanist George Simonds Boulger with colour plates by landscape painter W. H. J. Boot, issued in parts by Cassell of London in 1887-88 for amateur naturalists and gardeners. Full-page chromolithographs show whole trees and thickets in open country, backed by small line vignettes of twigs, cones, catkins and leaf sprays drawn in fine pen strokes on tinted paper.
