Man-midwifery dissected ; or, the obstetric family-instructor : In fourteen letters. Addressed to A. Hamilton. Occasioned by certain doctrines contained in his letters to Dr. W. Osborn / By John Blunt [i.e. S.W. Fores].
A 1795 London polemic against male midwives, written under the pseudonym John Blunt by the printseller Samuel William Fores and addressed to obstetric practitioners and the general reading public. Its single folding frontispiece is a hand-coloured satirical etching of a figure split down the middle, half green-coated gentleman and half striped-gowned woman, set against shelves of labelled apothecary bottles, forceps and shears, with a mortar and a fire-lit stove; useful for period dress, labelled bottle rows and surgical instrument silhouettes.
