A microscopy handbook by Andrew Pritchard, published in London in 1841, cataloguing the infusoria (ciliates, rotifers, algae) after C.G. Ehrenberg's German genera and adding forms found in chalk deposits, for naturalists working with microscopes. The hand-coloured engraved plates crowd dozens of numbered organisms onto cream grounds in pale green, orange and blue washes with fine outline, offering translucent cell shapes, ciliary fringes, colonial spheres and filament chains usable as scattered small-form pattern.
