Experiments and considerations touching colours. First occasionally written among some other essays, to a friend; and now suffer'd to come abroad as the beginning of an experimental history of colours / By the Honourable Robert Boyle.

Robert Boyle · 1670 · London : Printed for Henry Herringman, MDC LXX [1670] · 1 picture

Robert Boyle's treatise on the experimental study of colour, printed for Henry Herringman in London in 1670 and addressed to fellow natural philosophers and members of the Royal Society. The plates here are text pages rather than figures: close views of seventeenth-century letterpress with long s, italicised names like Paracelsus and terms such as Calx, show-through from the verso, and foxed rag paper, useful as period type specimens, backgrounds and cropped textural detail.
