A Latin edition of Newton's Opticks, with his optical lectures and collected papers on light and colour, printed at the seminary press of Giovanni Manfrè in Padua in 1773 for university and scholarly readers. The plates in the index are letterpress woodcut tailpieces and headpieces: symmetrical rococo cartouches of C-scrolls and acanthus framing flower baskets, grotesque masks and armillary spheres, printed in coarse black line against visible type — usable as spot ornaments, dividers and frame motifs.
