The costume of Hindostan, elucidated by sixty coloured engravings / with descriptions in English and French, taken in the years 1798 and 1799. By Balt. Solvyns, of Calcutta.
A costume plate album of sixty hand-coloured engravings after Frans Balthazar Solvyns, etched in Calcutta in 1798–99 and published in London by Edward Orme in 1804 with English and French captions for European buyers. Single standing figures of Indian tradesmen, musicians and servants hold tools and instruments against bare tinted ground, with occasional small background vignettes; useful for isolated figure cutouts, drapery studies and implement silhouettes.
