A catalogue of selected antiquities and natural curiosities from the British Museum, drawn and engraved by the Dutch-born medical draughtsman Jan van Rymsdyk and printed for the editor in London in 1791 for antiquarians and collectors. Each plate floats two to six objects—amulets, a carved hand, cowrie shells, coral and fossil specimens, coins, a mounted ring of beads—on empty paper with figure letters and a plate number, giving designers isolated dark-toned engraved objects that cut out cleanly for spot illustration.
