Conchology, or the natural history of shells: containing a new arrangement of the genera and species. Illustrated by coloured engravings executed from the natural specimens, and including the latest discoveries / By George Perry.
George Perry's Conchology (London: W. Bulmer for W. Miller, 1811) is a folio shell catalogue with hand-coloured engravings, arranged by genus and species for collectors and naturalists of the period. Each plate floats four to seven shells against bare paper — volutes, conches, spiral land snails, turret shells — with banded, spotted and flame-like surface patterns in ochre, rose and brown useful as isolated motifs.
