Atlas der Cranioscopie, oder, Abbildungen der Schaedel- und Antlitzformen beruehmter oder sonst merkwuerdiger Personen / von Carl Gustav Carus.
A German craniology atlas by physician and painter Carl Gustav Carus, lithographed by Moritz Krantz and printed by Franz Hanfstaengl in Leipzig, 1843-45, for physicians and phrenologists comparing the skulls and faces of famous men. The plates are large tonal lithographs of skulls in profile and three-quarter view, softly shaded against blank paper, useful as anatomical silhouettes, memento mori motifs, and stipple-to-wash texture studies.
