Thomas Carlyle : table talk.
A cheap threepenny pamphlet of Carlyle sayings on smoking, printed and published in 1890 by the Liverpool tobacco firm Cope Brothers at the office of their house journal "Cope's Tobacco Plant", aimed at pipe smokers and shop customers. Pictures include a silhouette cover with tobacco leaves and flowers, an orange facsimile of the Bristol Bird's Eye label with brick-wall border and oval portrait, and pen sketches of soldiers and stout men with pipes.
