Pleasures of the water cure / by a patient who has been well drench'd and wrench'd and restored to health.
A comic picture-book of thirteen hand-coloured lithographed plates drawn by Thomas Onwhyn and issued by John Shuttleworth at Ilkley in 1860, mocking the hydropathic spa regime for its own bath-house clientele. Gaunt patients shiver in sheets, are sluiced from buckets and climb from wooden tubs in cramped tiled rooms, with dense hatched water and steam, wall-mounted rule notices, taps, pitchers and watering cans.
