William Caxton; the first English printer
A short 1877 account of William Caxton printed and published by the Montreal jobbing printer J.N. Emra, aimed at the printing trade and general readers. The wood engravings mix trade-specimen material — a press or copying apparatus, a ribbon banner of subscription lettering, an imperial arms with crown, eagle and drapery — with a pen-drawn initial N in ivy scrollwork, useful as type ornament, initial and banner stock.
