Wittemberger Heiligthumsbuch
An 1884 Munich facsimile, issued by Georg Hirth, of the 1509 Wittenberg relic book, whose woodcuts Lucas Cranach the Elder cut to catalogue the reliquaries displayed in the castle church for pilgrims and donors. The plates are black-line woodcuts of monstrances, standing cups, reliquary busts and ostensories, each a tall silhouette of stems, knops and foliate crestings framing small crucifixion or saint scenes, useful as ornamental vessel outlines, cartouche frames and stamped leaf-scroll filler.
