The works of Horatio Walpole, earl of Orford
The collected works of Horace Walpole, Earl of Orford, printed in London in 1798 for subscribers and collectors after his death, edited by Mary Berry and gathering his writings on painting, engravers and antiquities along with the description of his Gothic villa at Strawberry Hill. The plates are outline etchings and line engravings: a ribbed Gothic gallery seen in one-point perspective, measured elevations of window ranges and offices, and quiet lawn views with the house half-hidden by massed trees, useful for tracery patterns, architectural line work and stippled foliage.
