A five-volume collected edition of Horace Walpole's writings, printed in London in 1798 for antiquarian and art-collecting readers, drawing on George Vertue's notes for its histories of British painters and engravers, and edited after Walpole's death by Mary Berry and James Edwards. The plates are copperplate portraits in oval frames with engraved name captions, small satellite medallion heads clustered around a central sitter, and finely hatched drapery and wigs; there is also a green-and-blue marbled endpaper with an armorial bookplate.
